“Brueghel. Masterpieces of Flemish Art”
With broad support of museums, private collectors and leading international experts in the field, it was possible to achieve the most extensive and comprehensive cultural event ever held in Italy on the subject of family Brueghel.
This exhibition celebrates the Brueghel dynasty, a family of Flemish painters who have made an indelible mark in the history of European art in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. More than 100 selected paintings and drawings provide a wonderful opportunity to admire masterpieces: the beautiful landscapes of Northern Europe snowy, rural scenes, village fairs and still life, unique for their meticulous attention to detail. The works are reflections on human existence, which brings together the sacred and the profane, faith and superstition, the cult of beauty and the fascinating world of the grotesque.
